Our company consists of 75 buses. ITS OPERATION begins from 1952. It operates in the same way for 51 years, joining by road all the cities and the villages of the county daily, as well as the capital of the county with Athens. Many things have changed within fifty years. Still KTEL remains to serve the public interest, persisting on his obligation, popping up its green buses from the steep turning of the county road always at the same time, once using the twenty-seats buses and nowadays the supermodern-noiseless buses.

  Argos ~ Greece Information:
You are in a country that has been inhabited continuously since the Old Stone Age to the present day. You are in the cradle of civilization with its glorious Mycenean centre; in a land with unique Byzantine monuments, with renowned Graeco-Roman and unforgettable Venetian buildings; in a land which plays host to the world's most renowned Theatre, to the oldest, continuously inhabited area which was home to Agamemnon and Clytemnestra; in the land of Hercules, Perseus, Proitus, Nafplius, Hermionas, Diamedes and the healing God, Asclepius.
All this and much more entwined with the scent of orange from the plain of Argolis and surrounded by a lacy coastline are there to welcome you with state-of-the-art tourist facilities and a plethora of cultural events combined with the warm welcome of the locals...

Argos is an ancient Greek city which is part of the prefecture of Argolis, in the region of the Peloponnese. It has four main subdivisions: Kokla, Larissa, Akova, and Timenio. This city has gone through several interesting historical events, and its past is among the main factors which attract tourists to its lands.
During the Mycenaean times, the city of Argos was an important stronghold, and was seen by the rest of the region as a strategic spot. This area was one of the first spots in the region in being inhabited and to become a town, only equalled by the acropolis of Tiryns and Mycenae.
In the Homeric times, the city of Argos was ruled by a follower of Agamemnon, and the name of the district in which this city is located, Argolis, was originated from such époque. Later, during the Romans, the region would be known as Argeia since that was the name given by these inhabitants.
During the Persian War, Argos was asked to fight and refused to do so, which caused it to be somehow despised by many of the neighbouring cities for certain period of time. This was one of the most critical and difficult moments in the history of Argos, although it was soon overcome and become part of the past.
At beginnings of the 12th century, one of the most interesting constructions of Argos was built, the Castle of Larissa. Besides this construction, this city and its surroundings have received several amazing buildings and constructions as time passed by, some of them can be still seen.
Nowadays, the city of Argos is the largest city in the prefecture of Argolis, and one of the most visited by tourists as well. Argolis' economy is mainly based on agriculture, and oranges as well as other critics are among the main resources of the city. There are many interesting spots visitors can meet while they are in Argos, such as the Archaeological Museum or many antique constructions, they should ask for information on the town's main attractions in order to make sure of meeting not missing any of them.

Modern Argos
The city of Argos is the seat of the province of the same name, one of the three subdivisions of the Argolis prefecture. According to the 2001 Greek census, the city has a population of 27,550. It is the largest city in the prefecture, one of the few prefectures in Greece where the largest city in population is larger than the prefectural capital.
Considerable remains of the city survive and are a popular tourist attraction. Agriculture, however, is the primary economic activity in the area, with citrus fruits the predominant crop. Olives are also popular here.
Argos has a railway station (Kalamata - Tripoli - Corinth), and a junior soccer team. The Argos Archaeological Museum houses ancient artifacts recovered not only from the principal archaeological sites of the city, including the theater and agora but also from Lerna.
