Fighter of the Month

December 2007   Name:  IMOGEN SHAYLER Stych  Town:  Witney, Oxon   Style:  Kickboxing  Club. O.F.M.A WITNEY.
Coached by GLEN DUNNETT.
Nominated by: TONY SHAYLER   reason: IMOGEN HAS HAD A FANTASTIC YEAR SERIES WINNER/EUROPEAN CHAMPION/AND TO FINISH THE OFF BRITISH GRAND CHAMPION IN BOTH POINTS AND CONTINIOUS IN DECEMBER 07 (CORNERED BY DAD AT BOTH EUROPEAN AND SIXFOOT FIGHT OFFS THIS IS WHY I'AM NOMINATING IMO) I FEEL IMO HAS PUT 100% EFFORT INTO HER KICKBOXING THIS YEAR HAVING MISSED 4 MONTHS WITH A BROKEN THUMB AND STILL WINNING THE SERIES SHOWS PURE COMMITMENT TO THE SPORT.  Master Deadly:  IMO is a great fighter

January 2007    Name:  Craig Butterfield     Town: Boston      Style:  Boston Sport Karate     Grade: 1st Dan
N
ominated by:  Mitchell Harrop    Reason: I nominate Craig because he has just won the world champions in Malta and with winning the category above him that is exceptional. Well done Craig!
Master Deadly:  I quite agree, Craig is a great fighter and I am proud to have him on my squad

December 2006    Name:  GB SQUAD      Town: GB
N
ominated by:  Sharon "Shazbo" Taggart  Reason: I think that my natural instinct would be to nominate my son Leif Taggart but then would only then make me feel slightly biased. I think the whole squad as a team performed the best I have ever seen. The medal tally must surely reflect that in itself. There were many excellent fights and many coming back from losing positions to take the win, I think part of that was down to the team spirit which had built up over the week. So I nominate the whole team, Well Done WUMA GBR
Master Deadly: How could I argue with that, Mrs Taggart was a spectator so I appreciate it more that my team did so well at the WUMA World Championships last month in Malta.  I too have never seen such comrade  "Well done Team"

November 2006    Name:  George " Cross" Katsimpas      Town: Weston-Super-Mare    Style: Tae Sho Ryu   Grade: 2nd Dan
N
ominated by:  Master Deadly & Stuart Davies   Reason:
In 2005 George beat Mark "Iceman" Smith for the WUMA PRO -80kg World Title, George then decided to retire to take up Pro Boxing and has truly made his mark on the middleweight division by beating Cello Renda ranked 10th in the country on 26th Oct 06.  This was Georges 4th Fight and he knocked Cello out in the 2nd Round. This now puts his record at 4 fights and 4 wins by KO. We at WUMA wish you all the luck in the world George and "Just do it"

October 2006    Name:  Ross (Rocky) Macduff        Town: Tewkesbury         Style: Hop Kuin Do Kickboxing
Nominated by:  Mark Smith  reason: I have nominated Ross because at such a young age he is a true Champion. Winning the European, British and the English open series light contact titles. He is a great world champion in the making and a credit to Tewkesbury Hop Kuin Do and WUMA. I hope he keeps up all his good work competing and training. Ross also helps out with the beginners that come to train at the club he'll be a good instructor one day.
Master Deadly:  Ross has just passed his Blackbelt and is a credit to the WUMA Junior Squad.

September  2006    Name:   Louise Nelson        Town: Lincoln         Style: Hop Kuin Do Kickboxing - team black Dragons
Nominated by: Peter cook  UFBDA    reason: Louise is part of  team black Dragons and like all the squad gives it her all i have nominated her as she never moans when she loses and although she wins most of her sections Louise is not arrogant, she is a great roll model for all my up and coming fighters. I expect a lot from my squad and they all deliver.    Louise recently won 3 golds at the World Championships in Malta and this has now earned her (BBC North Sports Personality of the Year)     (Well done Louise from Pete & Master Deadly)

January 2006          Name: Bobby Hopkins          Town: Cheltenham WUMA HQ         Style: Hop Kuin Do Kickboxing
Nominated by: The WUMA HQ Team:   Bobby entered the Midlands Area Championships on January 15th 2006 and won the event measuring in at only 100cm.   After much research we feel that 4 year old Bobby is the smallest person ever to win a title in the sport of Semi-Contact Kickboxing making this an Official World Record.

Leif Taggart:  Simone has been an inspiration to everyone in WUMA as a fighter. Her latest retirement fight showed exactly what fighting spirit is.
