February 2008 Name
Tony Day
Town: Portslade Club: Kudos
Martial Arts
Style: Karate
Grade: 4th Dan Years Training: 35 years Nominated by:
Teresa Ralph
Reason: My son has severe special
needs and despite this Tony was willing to give him a try at the
lessons. That was 5 years ago and Tony has encouraged and
supported him through all his grades and adapted where needed to
accommodate him (Such as not saying when he is grading so that
he doesn't get upset and not cope with it.) Tony has encouraged
all the blackbelts to help Matt rather than leave him to learn
(He works best visually so that Tony encouraged them to
demonstrate with him so that he can see what is needed). It has
been thanks to Tony a long learning curve to enable my son to
get the best that Karate has to offer and i am very pleased that
he took up Karate 5 1/2 years ago.
Master Deadly: Lovely to hear, well done Tony and his
gang. |

Lincoln Club:
U.F.B.D.A
Hop Kuin
Do Kickboxing
Nominated by:
Katie Golland
Reason: I have been training for just over
a year and I have learnt so much from Rachel. She has showed me
unique ways of remembering techniques and always has new ways of
teaching if she thinks students are struggling in any way.
Rachel always coaches me at competitions if she is there and
always does a fantastic job. Rachel herself is a fantastic
fighter especially in Light Contact. One of the reasons why I
think so highly of Rachel is that at the classes some of the
juniors think it's clever to mess about but Rachel keeps calm
and works ways out to avoid this. When I meet new people in the
U.F.B.D.A and they ask me who my instructor is I feel very proud
to say Rachel Coleman. I always have fun at the classes and
Rachel is a great person to be around. Thanks for everything
Rachel. Master Deadly: Well
worded Katie, Rachel is WUMA World Continuous Champion, she won
it in Germany 2004 & Malta 2006 |

Christopher Allen
Town:
Tring Club:
Tring Martial Arts
Nominated by:
Tanya Adams
Reason: Tring Martial Arts has
transformed my life. I have finally found an exercise that I
look forward to ... never once have I dreaded going to a
class..... in fact the whole group want Chris to increase the
number of classes he holds each week. The club is ran so well.
We all feel like a team and support each other at all events.
Chris has mastered the art of balance - we work hard, he expects
commitment and respect which we attempt to deliver, however he
also makes us feel at ease and able to ask questions and have a
laugh. Chris demonstrates the techniques with patience and he is
totally committed to us and the club. I am in the teaching
profession and know how easy it can be to get that role wrong.
Chris really manages to run a thriving, fun and dedicated club.
The team is made up of a range of people of all ages, sizes and
ability ....all of whom i now warmly think of as my friends. I
think Chris is a great instructor and well deserving of the
honor of instructor of the month. Thanks Chris |
